Beginners can start with a fun catamaran experience. Experienced sailors, CanSail 4+ sailors, instructors, umpires, race officials, and BC sailing schools are invited to help build the Victoria Topcat community.

Experienced Sailors Wanted
Topcat Academy is looking for CanSail 4+ sailors, instructors, coaches, race officials, and BC sailing schools interested in building a Victoria beach-catamaran community around Oak Bay.
We want to support catamaran experiences, scenic tours, instructor development, dinghy-to-catamaran cross-training, match-racing practice, and future umpire development for friendly Topcat events.

STEM in sailing
Sailing is physics in motion. Topcat Academy connects sailing practice with wind, lift, drag, vectors, balance, apparent wind, weather, navigation, and decision-making.
The goal is to make sailing not only fun, but understandable — especially for adults who enjoy learning how things work.
Topcat Catamarans in Canada
Topcat Academy is also building a Canadian community around Topcat beach catamarans.
The long-term goal is to help grow a local fleet for learning, touring, ownership, club partnerships, and friendly racing.

The long-term vision is to create accessible, friendly, and community-based Topcat racing events around Victoria and Oak Bay — including practice sessions, school partnerships, race-official development, and eventually match-racing events on Topcat catamarans.
Topcat Academy acknowledges with respect that we sail, learn, and gather on the traditional territories of the Coast and Straits Salish Peoples, including the lək̓ʷəŋən people, known today as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples.
